Your Safety

Protection against cross infection is of paramount importance. We are very proud of our 'best practice' infection control procedures and decontamination room.

Before you come into the Surgery whether for a routine examination or treatment, all surfaces will been thoroughly cleaned with disinfectant, new covers will have been put on the headrest, light handles, control panels and handpieces and Matthew and Pam will have put on new examination gloves. After your treatment all disposable items such as the covers mentioned above/gloves, suction tubes etc are thrown away and other items go first into the washer disinfector ( a bit like a dishwasher at home but with a much higher temperature) and then into the vacuum steriliser. After this procedure all instruments are sealed in plastic bags and kept in clean storage until they are next used. These bags are also dated and if the instruments are not used within 21 days they go through the steriliser again and are rebagged. The whole process is monitored rigorously with daily/weekly and monthly checks to ensure the process is operating correctly.

In order to make this a smooth running operation we have completely rebuilt our decontamination room where there is a clear passage of 'dirty' instruments through to clean, sterilised items so the two never get mixed up – we will be delighted to show it to you if you would like to see it.
